Staff Q&A: Studio City eats and activities from Tula’s server Jordan
16 Jul, 2013
At Tula’s our servers don’t just bring you great food–they offer their personal locals-only knowledge of Studio City! Today, Jorden Angel is offering the scoop on our Los Angeles neighborhood.
- When you’re not serving at Tula’s, where are your favorite places to grab a bite and a cocktail?
I live in the area and some great places are Vicious Dogs for a great hot dog and Federal Bar for a drink. Both are within 5 miles of the hotel. Don’t laugh, but you can’t go wrong with a $1.50 hot dog/soda combo from Costco in Burbank (3.8mi) or Van Nuys (6mi)–I’m a cheap eats kind of guy!
- What’s your favorite activity at The Beverly Garland?
Dive-In Movies at the pool! It’s perfect for families because mom and dad are able to relax with cocktails while the kids splash around in the pool.
- What LA activity do you always recommend to visitors?
The Griffith Observatory–it has amazing picturesque views of LA plus the admission to the Observatory building and grounds is free! If you’re looking to go to the coast, head to Santa Monica and check out the iconic Santa Monica Pier, ride the Ferris wheel and play a few boardwalk games. Lastly, you need to check out Universal Studios and Universal CityWalk. If you’re staying at The Beverly Garland, we offer complimentary shuttle service to the park!
- What is your favorite item from Tula’s menu and the best cocktail from Decoy Lounge?
From Tula’s menu, our Rigatoni Bolognese–a classic and delicious pasta dish! The best cocktail from Decoy Lounge is the Mojito. It’s refreshing and great to sip on during the summer nights out on our patio.
- What’s your #1 travel tip?
Always carry cash and have your ID on you and as Tula (Beverly Garland’s granddaughter) says, “Eat. Laugh. Play.”
